Allison is still enjoying the two chicks that hatched in the first incubator attempt, earlier this summer. P'zilla is the more docile, compliant one, but yesterday she handled Smoag, too. Her favorite thing this last week or two is to put them on a leash and take them for a walk.
This is P'zilla on the leash. Smoag had his first time on it yesterday.
I admit to being rather shocked when she first told Clarence she had put P'zilla on a leash the other day. I envisioned the poor thing choking if it didn't follow her lead. I thought it was a horrible thing.
Allison laughed and explained that she put the twine "leash" around their leg. Whew, was I relieved! I guess I should have known better-she's very tenderhearted and would never be cruel. I just wasn't thinking about where a leash would go, except for around a neck.
This is the best picture I could manage of the newest chicks. They are flighty and not nearly as friendly as the older two chicks. Allison has pretty much written them off as pets.
They didn't like my camera in their pen. I'm surprised I got all but one or two in the picture. They have so few feathers, yet are already trying to fly to get away from me and my camera.
Hopefully, we got a few hens in this group. P'zilla and Smoag are both roosters, unfortunately.
Hi Karen.
ReplyDeleteYou are so on the ball with your blog. I'm dutifully impressed and slightly envious!I've not added anything to my blog since July 24!
I love the "walking the rooster" how fun! and the first day of school picture is great as well!

Your chickens look so cute! We adopted ours already hatched, it must have been such a neat experience to hatch them yourselves! Little Miss P'zilla looks like she is enjoying her walk! :o) What a clever idea!
ReplyDeleteHappy first day of school to you! I sure miss starting school after Labor Day. I grew up that way! :o)
Have a wonderful day!
